Coach Tommy Dempsey and his staff were looking to find out more about their team when the Binghamton Bearcats hosted the Hartford Hawks at the Events Center. The February 3 contest was expected show whether the Bearcats really are getting better or are still in the bottom portion of the America East standings.

Hartford went in 4-5 and in fifth place in the conference standings.  The Bearcats were 3-7.  The Hawks lost four straight games while Binghamton won two in a row.

In a meeting in Hartford last month the Hawks defeated Binghamton 69-59.  BU shot 55 percent from the field in that game.  Freshman Romello Walker was 8-12 shooting and scored 17 points to pace the Bearcats.  Marlon Beck fired in 16 points for the Bearcats as well. Hartford leads the overall series versus Binghamton...holding an 18-11 edge.  The Hawks have won eight consecutive games against Binghamton and have won seven and lost six against the Bearcats at the Events Center.
