Behind a 27-point effort by Brook Lopez, the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Utah Jazz 104-88 on Tuesday night and thus ended a four-game losing streak against them.

The game was the first home game for new coach Jason Kidd who served a two-game suspension following his drunk driving conviction.

Deron Williams scored 10 and had eight helpers for the Nets who defeated the Jazz for the first time since January of 2011.  Joe Johnson scored 12 for Brooklyn who are now 2-2 on the year.

Utah was led by Gordon Hayward with 22 points.  The Jazz are still winless after four games.

The Nets travel to Washington on Friday night to play the Wizards.
