Two New York Jets defensive linemen, Muhammad Wilkerson and Quinton Coples, were fined by the National Football League for "dirty" hits on Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker.

The two plan to appeal their fines.  Wilkerson was fined $15,785 and Coples was docked $7,875.

Locker was hit by both Wilkerson and Coples in the third quarter of Tennessee's 38-13 win on Sunday after he thew a pass.  Locker had to be carted off of the field and is expected to miss several weeks with a sprained hip and knee.

Titans coach Mike Munchak doesn't think the hits were necessary, but also doesn't think either player should be fined.
