Former Binghamton Ranger Captain Peter Laviolette is leading his Nashville Predators deep into the Stanley Cup playoffs.  He has been there before including coaching Carolina to the Stanley Cup Championship in 2006.

Laviolette has plenty of experience coaching at the NHL level.  He is in his fourth season with Nashville.  Prior to that he was behind the bench for two seasons with the New York Islanders, four plus seasons with the Flyers and four plus seasons as head coach with Carolina.

Laviolette played two seasons in Binghamton in 1990-91 and 1991 -92 and served as team captain for those two campaigns. He represented the United States in two Olympics as a player and coached the U S Olympic team in 2006.

 

Laviolette enjoyed success as a coach in the American Hockey League before moving into the NHL ranks.  In the 1998-99 campaign he guided Providence to the Calder Cup Championship and was named the AHL Coach of the Year. He was inducted into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004.
