The day after the Philadelphia Flyers dropped a 2-1 decision against the Carolina Hurricanes, head coach Peter Laviolette has been let go by the team.  Assistant coach Craig Berube will take over.

Laviolette, who was hired in 2009, was rumored to not even get the chance to coach the team at all this year after failing to get the Flyers to the playoffs last season.  The Flyers are winless thus far this season.

Laviolette joined the Flyers after coaching in Carolina and for the Islanders.  His coaching record with Philadelphia stands at 117-74.
