Number 9 Syracuse, playing in the opening round of the Maui Invitational on Monday night, was able to hold off St. Francis of Brooklyn 56-50.

Syracuse led for a majority of the first half but struggled to keep up with St. Francis in the second.  Then, with just under two-minutes to play, Jerami Grant was able to tie the game and set up the go-ahead score by Michael Gbinije.  The Orange sealed the game on free throws.

Dajuan Coleman led the Orange with 14 points, Grant netted 13 and Trevor Cooney added 12.  C.J. Fair was held in check and was the apparent game plan for St. Francis.  He finished with seven points.

St. Francis was led by Jalen Cannon with 16 points.

Syracuse, now 4-0, will head to Hawaii next week to face Minnesota in the next round of the Maui Invitational.
