Overtime Field Goal Lifts Jets Past Patriots
With 5:07 left in overtime, Nick Folk kicked a 42-yard field goal and the New York Jets defeated the New England Patriots 30-27 on Sunday.
The kick was Folk's second attempt, the first one he missed, but the Patriots' Chris Jones was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for pushing his teammate forward to attempt to block the kick. The penalty allowed the Jets to run the ball three more downs and set up the game-winner.
The Patriots were able to tie the game at 27 with just 16 seconds left in regulation on a Stephen Gostkowski 44-yeard field goal.
Jets' rookie QB Geno Smith threw one touchdown pass and also ran one in. The Jets are now 4-3.
The Jets are next in action on Sunday as they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals.
