Following a tough loss to the Montreal Canadians in their home-opener on Monday night, the Rangers bounced back and rallied late against the New York Islanders for a 3-2 win.

Benoit Pouliot and Ryan McDonagh scored third period goals to first tie, then go ahead. The Rangers scored twice on the man advantage in the game and got another solid performance in net from rookie Cam Talbot.

The game saw the return of the speedy Carl Hagelin, who had an assist in the game winning goal.

The Islanders got goals from Cal Clutterbuck and Peter Regin.

The Rangers are now 3-5-0 and return home on Thursday night for a tilt with the Buffalo Sabres.  The Islanders travel to Ottawa to take on the Senators on Friday.
