Rangers Struck Hard By Lightning
After being honored for playing over 1000 NHL games, future Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis scored twice to beat the New York Rangers 5-0 to stop their four-game skid.
The Rangers managed to get 37 shots on Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop but he stopped them all to improve to 14-3-1 on the year. Nikita Kucherov scored his first NHL goal on his first NHL shot which proved to be the game winning goal. Teddy Purcell also had two goals on the night.
The Rangers were sloppy on defense and number one goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was far from sharp in the first road loss in seven games.
"We made a few mistakes and they made us pay for it," said Lundqvist who falls to 7-10-0 on the season.
The Rangers are now 12-12-0 and continue their five-game road trip on Wednesday against the Florida Panthers.
