Following a shaky start on Wednesday night, the New York Rangers were able to get it together and defeat the first place Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 at Madison Square Garden.  It is the second game in the last three that the Rangers have netted five goals.

Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan scored 1:05 apart in the first period to launch the Blueshirts to an early 2-0 lead.  They never looked back.  Brian Boyle scored his first goal of the season in the second period and captain Ryan Callahan followed suit nearly two-and-a-half minutes later.  Derick Brassard scored the Rangers' fifth goal in the third.

The Rangers, who have seemed to have found their game of late, went 3-1 on the four-game homestand.  They have also won four of their last five contests.

The red hot Rangers are right back at it on Thursday night as they travel to Columbus for a 7PM tilt with the Bluejackets.
