Sharks' rookie forward Tomas Hertl scored 4 goals as San Jose routed the New York Rangers 9-2 Tuesday night.  Ranger's captain Ryan Callahan called the loss "embarrassing."

The Sharks took a 4-1 lead halfway through period number 2 and Rangers' goalie Henrik Lundquist was pulled in favor or Martin Biron.  Biron gave up five goals.

Matthew Nieto scored his first NHL goal and had two assists.  Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Dan Boyle, Logan Couture and Justin Bruan also scored for the Sharks.

Brad Richards scored his third goal of the young season for the Rangers, a power-play goal in the first for the Rangers' only lead of the night.  Derek Dorsett scored the only other tally for the Blue Shirts.

The Rangers have a night off on Wednesday and continue their nine game road trip to start the season on Thursday night as they take on the Anaheim Ducks.
