Slumping Rangers Fall To Unbeaten Blues
The New York Rangers faced a much unneeded opponent on Saturday night to try and break their slump. The undefeated St. Louis Blues handed New York a 5-3 defeat.
The Rangers looked more fundamentally sound in the defeat, however, backup goaltender Martin Biron struggled to keep the puck out of his net as the Blues scored 4 goals on 17 shots. He was replaced in the third by regular backstop Henrik Lundquist.
The Blues' David Backed netted two goals and Derek Roy, Alexander Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko added goals.
Rangers' captain Ryan Callahan had two goals and red-hot Brad Richards also scored.
New York is now more than halfway through its 9 game road trip to start the season as the renovations to Madison Square Garden are completed.
The Rangers are next in action against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.
