Derek Stepan, who led the New York Rangers in goals last season, hadn't scored this year, and his frustration was mounting.  That all changed Saturday night when New York took on the Carolina Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden.

After Carl Hagelin, who is coming off of an injury, scored his first two goals of the season, Stepan went to work scoring the Rangers' next three tallies for the natural hat trick.

Henrick Lundqvist made 27 saves and only allowed a powerplay goal in the second and the Rangers secured the 5-1 win.  It was the Blueshirts' best offensive performance of the year so far.

The Rangers are now 6-7-0 on the season and have won three in a row.  They've also won four of their last five contests.  They will host the Ducks of Anaheim on Monday night.
