For only the second time in 19 years, the New York Yankees will not be playing baseball in October.

The Yankees were mathematically eliminated from the 2013 post-season following their 8-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium Wednesday evening.  The Cleveland Indians also won their game, double sealing the Bombers' fate.

The only other year since 1995 that the team hasn't made the playoffs was in 2008, ironically the year they closed the old Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees season will officially end on Sunday along with the 20 other MLB teams who failed to capture a playoff berth.

The Pinstripes conclude their three game series with the Rays tonight in the Bronx before heading to Houston for three to wrap up the season.  Andy Pettitte will be making his final start before retirement on Friday.
