Charlie Voelker is the co-host of The Drive every weekday afternoon from 3 pm to 7pm. Charlie has been a part of the Capital Region Sports scene for over the last 25 years. In 1996 he joined Big Board Sports host and NewsChannel 13 sports director, Rodger Wyland in the UAlbany broadcast booth for football and basketball. Charlie spent 6 years in minor league baseball, then spent the next 17 years as the Associate Athletic Director for the University at Albany before retiring from that position in 2020. Charlie and his wife Kim live in Albany County with his son Andrew.

Upstate Baseball Pioneer Finally Gets Nod Into The Hall of Fame
Yesterday, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, which happily resides just over an hour from the center of the Capital Region, announced six new players that will be added to the Hall in 2022. Gil Hodges, Jim Kaat, Minnie Miñoso and Tony Oliva were elected by the Golden Days Era Committee, and Bud Fowler and Buck O’Neil were chosen by the Early Baseball Era Committee according to mlb.com. The class will be part of the July 24th induction ceremony in Cooperstown next year.

The New York Daily News reporter Deesha Thosar has tweeted that the Amazin's have signed 3 time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer. Thosar reports that the Mets' inked Scherzer to a deal worth a whopping $130 million over 3 years. Scherzer was expected to sign somewhere on Monday.
