B-Mets Win Sixth Straight
The red-hot Binghamton Mets won their sixth straight game July 22 in New Britain, Connecticut as they downed the Rock Cats 9-5. Binghamton completes a sweep of the three-game series and puts the B-Mets into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division. They lead Reading by one-half game and Trenton by a game and one-half. It also sets the stage for a key four-game series in Trenton as the B-Mets try to get a stronger hold on first place.
Game one in that series is July 23 at 7:00 p.m. (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
In the July 22 win, pinch-hitter Jared King ripped a grand slam home run to give the B-Mets an 8-0 advantage. It was Binghamton's fifth grand slam homer of the season.
Josh Rodriguez blasted his league-leading 15th home run and Xorge Carillo joined the home run parade with his sixth of the season.
Michael Fulmer earned the win as Binghamton has now won 11 of its last 12 games. The move into first place is the first time the B-Mets have been in that position since April 21st of this season.
