The women's basketball team protected home court in their previous matchup against Hartford on January 29. On February 5, the Bearcats returned to action as they hosted the University at Albany.

The Great Danes didn't have the best of starts but made up for it in the second quarter. Helene Haegerstrand led the team with six points. Alexi Schecter added four while Amanda Kantzy and Izzy Om each chipped in three as Albany tallied 22 for the half.

Binghamton started hot but became stagnant towards the end of the first half. Kai Moon got into double-digits with 12 points. Olivia Ramil scored eight and Karlee Krchnavi supplied six as the Bearcats took a 30-22 lead into the halftime break.

Albany made it a tight game in the second half. They did not manage to take the lead, but they also were not out of it. Helene Haegerstrand finished with a team-high 16 points. Alexi Schecter accounted for seven and Kyara Frames ended with six as the Great Danes amassed 42 points.

Binghamton took care of business at both ends of the court. Kai Moon recorded a game-high 23. Karlee Krchnavi racked up nine and Olivia Ramil chalked up eight as the Bearcats came away with the 58-42 win.

This snaps a 21-game losing streak to the Great Danes as BU had not managed to come away with a victory since February 20 of 2011. The women move to 16-6 on the season, 5-4 in the conference. The team will be back in action on February 8 as they'll visit the University of Maine to face the Black Bears.
