Binghamton Devils Edged in Syracuse
The Binghamton Devils and the Syracuse Crunch squared off in a special afternoon contest on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The game, played at the Syracuse War Memorial, saw the Crunch post a 2-1 victory. The Crunch jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. Binghamton came back to net what proved to be the Devils' only tally on a power play. John Quenneville got a feed from Michael Kapla at 9:49 of the second period and scored against Crunch netminder Martin Ouellette. That proved to be the one Binghamton tally.
Corey Schneider made the start in goal and stopped 21 of 23 shots. The loss drops Binghamton's record to 19-22-4-0 for 42 points. Syracuse moves to 23-13-2-1 for 49 points and third place in the AHL's North Division. Monday's game started a busy week for the Devils. They play at Rochester on Wednesday. they then return home for a pair of weekend games hosting Hartford on Friday night and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday evening. Both games begin at 7:05 P.M.
