The Penguins would strike first in period two on a power play goal scored by forward Nick Schilkey with almost eight minutes into the period to go up 2-1, going into the second intermission.

The Devils trailed through the Third period and were forced to send Gilles Senn’s to the side lines for an extra skater leaving the net empty, when Nolan Foote scored with just 1:19 left in regulation  to send the game into overtime.
