Boeheim, Syracuse Penalized for Violations
The NCAA has brought down sanctions against the Syracuse University Men's Basketball program and head coach Jim Boeheim for committing academic, drug and gift violations.
Boeheim has been suspended for nine conference games and the team will be on probation for five years. Any games that the Orange won when ineligible students played must now be forfeited.
On top of that, there will be financial penalties and a mandatory reduction of twelve basketball scholarships. Recruiting restrictions will also be in place for a period of two years.
In February, in anticipation of the report, the school implemented a self-sanction for this year's post-season.
