The BU women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season on December 17 against the Miami Hurricanes in South Florida. On December 19, the Bearcats played in their first game of the Florida International University Tournament against the Governors of Austin Peay State.

Binghamton struggled a great deal in the first half. A lot of turnovers, as well as, other missed opportunities had the team playing catchup. Kai Moon led the team with 10 points and was the only Bearcat to notch double-digits in scoring in the half. Olivia Ramil tallied six and three other players each had three points apiece as the team managed to put up 27 in the opening period.

The Governors of Austin Peay had the lead to begin the game and built on it as the game progressed through the opening half. Ella Sawyer had 10 with Tahanee Bennell adding eight. Shay-Lee Kirby and Brianah Ferby each chipped in six as they led 47-27 going into halftime.

Austin Peay would continue to play well coming out of the break. Tahanee Bennell finished with 15 points and six assists. D'Shara Booker and Ella Sawyer each had 10 as the team racked up 80 points for the game.

Unfortunately for BU, they weren't able to handle the Governor's physicality. Annie Ramil recorded 14 while Kai Moon chalked up 13. Olivia Ramil ended with 10 as the Bearcats fall 80-63. Even with the loss, the team will play again tomorrow, December 20, as they'll face Grambling State at noon.
