The Buffalo Bills were back at practice on Wednesday, preparing for their second of three preseason games this Saturday. The Bills host the Denver Broncos at Highmark Stadium at 1 pm.

The Bills are down at 84 players on the active roster, after releasing cornerback Tim Harris and linebacker Marquel Lee on Tuesday. The team needs to be down to 80 players by next Tuesday and the big cutdown day will be on August 30th, when the roster will be cut down to 53 players.

Before practice on Wednesday, Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier spoke to the media and had some rather interesting things to say.

The most interesting thing was when Frazier mentioned that third-year cornerback Dane Jackson was ahead of both first round rookie Kaiir Elam and sixth round rookie Christian Benford.

This from Jon Scott of Spectrum News Buffalo.

Frazier said that they know what they have in Jackson, which is why he sat in the first preseason game.

It's always a good sign when a healthy player doesn't play in the first preseason game; that usually means they have a solidified roster spot and the coaching staff knows their abilities.

Elam still has a chance to overtake Jackson for the CB2 spot but Jackson would be fine for the coaching staff, if that's what it came down to for week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams. Benford has been very impressive but I think he will likely be the fourth cornerback at best when the season opens.

The Bills will have their hands full against the Rams, covering Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. It still remains to be seen if Van Jefferson will be back in time from his knee injury.

Hopefully, Tre'Davious White will be back by week 1 as well.
