C.V. Elementary Open Houses to Take Mystery Out of Temporary Relocations
Some Chenango Valley school children will not be returning to their familiar halls and classrooms in September.
The district is conducting a massive Capital Improvement Project with phase two involving extensive refurbishment of Chenango Bridge and Port Dickinson Elementary buildings.
Chenango Bridge is reminding families that students in grades 3 to 5 will go to the old Saint Francis school building in Hillcrest for the entire year while grades Pre-K to 2 that normally are in the Port Dickinson Elementary building will be going to Chenango Bridge for the first part of the year and finish the year back in Port Dick.
The district says to help students get acquainted with their temporary buildings before the start of the school year there will be open houses August 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. for the Port Dickinson students at the Chenango Bridge building on River Road and for the Chenango Bridge students at Saint Francis School on Chenango Street in Hillcrest.
Officials say by clearing out the buildings, construction can continue year-round instead of only during school breaks, bringing down the costs.
The construction projects at the Port Dickinson, Middle/High School and outdoor classroom are all supposed to be done in the next few weeks and months. The work on the Chenango Bridge Elementary School is scheduled for January 2020 to June 2020 and at the Bus Garage & Maintenance Building for July 2020 to August 2020.
