The owner of a big beer shop on Binghamton's West Side says it may be months before the place is back in operation following a fire.

The West Side Beer Depot at 334 Main Street sustained extensive damage in an early-morning blaze on June 17.

Owner Tony Singh said investigators ruled the fire was linked to an electrical problem. He said now that the investigation has been completed, cleanup and repair work can get underway.

Singh said he expects it will take three months before the store can be reopened.

None of the beer - including many higher-priced craft brews - that was in the store at the time of the fire can be sold. Singh estimated the inventory loss at $150,000.

The West Side store opened in 2014. Singh said his other Beer Depot store - at 218 Court Street - has been in operation for nearly ten years.
