First Look at Planned Downtown Binghamton Parking Facility
Binghamton residents are getting a glimpse of the draft renderings for the proposed $12 million Hawley Street parking project.
City officials in mid-December announced The Pike Company of Rochester had been chosen to construct the facility.
The six-level parking ramp is expected to have spaces for more than 300 vehicles. It's to be built on a site at 7 Hawley Street which is owned by the Binghamton Urban Renewal Agency.
More than a quarter of the project's anticipated cost will be covered by a $3,450,000 state grant.
A structure connected to the parking garage will have 6,000 square feet of commercial space on the street level. Plans call for it to include 18 rental units.
City agencies are reviewing the plans for the facility, which is expected to utilize what's regarded as a rapid construction technique.
The ramp is scheduled to go into service next January, according to a City Hall news release.
