Gillibrand: More Federal Funds Possible for Community Addiction Programs
Community programs to address the continuing problem of opioid addiction could be in for more federal funding.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has been traveling her district touting the Family Support Services Addiction Act that would put $25 milion annually aside for education and counseling services.
The Democrat made a stop February 10 at the Family and Children’s Counseling Services in Binghamton.
Local providers say it’s important for families to know about support services they can use to combat addiction in their own homes as well as to reverse stigmas associated with addiction disorder which often prevent people from getting help or their families from seeking support programs.
