High School Football, Volleyball Moved To Spring
The Friday night lights will have to wait to be lit until the spring in Western New York. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced high school sports officials to push various seasons from the traditional fall months until March and April.
Several fall sports that are considered high risk will now have to wait to be played. Football, volleyball and cheer are among the sports that are on hold.
According to reports, the decision was made due to ongoing concerns about the spread of coronavirus. Low-risk sports such as tennis, field hockey and cross country can start September 21st.
As we wait for things to settle back in to some sort of routine that we recognize, it is an opportunity for the student athletes to stay sharp and work hard at getting through he first part of the school year and be hungry for the spring!
