Jackson-Brown Duo Could Be Lethal
As the Eagles and Baltimore Ravens prepare for their regular season "tune-up" game Thursday through joint practices, it is hard not to notice a familiar type of duo the Ravens will feature in 2019 on offense.
The combination of QB Lamar Jackson and WR Marquise Brown could develop into one of the best, young, explosive combinations the NFL has to offer.
A quarterback with generational mobility that only a few players at the position have ever had.
A smaller wide receiver with 4.3 speed that was famous for beating defenses deep in college.
The Eagles know first hand the threat this kind of connection could pose for defenses.
Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson were that connection. In a way, they helped pave the way for players like Jackson and Brown.
Coming out of Louisville as an unfinished product throwing the football, Jackson's ceiling was still too high to pass up in the 1st round. He very well might be the most explosive QB since Vick.
If the second-year signal caller can figure out his accuracy inconsistencies, he could be the 2010 version of Vick for the majority of his career.
He possesses the strong arm strength and pocket movement that combined with his running, could break the league. Much like Vick did in his comeback player of the year season.
For Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, the comparisons to Jackson became a consistent theme throughout the draft process.
The Oklahoma-product was one of the country's most dangerous threats down the field, and in the RAC (run after the catch) department.
Standing at 5'9 and 168 lbs created durability concerns around draft circles.
Could a WR stay healthy playing at that weight?
DeSean Jackson did. Since being drafted out of California in 2008, the veteran has played around 170 lbs while standing at just 5'10.
Brown is very aware of the comparisons and the rookie grew up watching Jackson as a young Eagles fan.
Unlike Vick and Jackson who connected on the field for just three and a half seasons, Jackson and Brown have an opportunity to build a long-term chemistry.
A chemistry that could help propel Baltimore into championship contention for a long time.
They will certainly be a good test Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field.
