Jets’ Revis Likely to Move Before Long
With major news out of the NFL of Anquan Boldin being traded to the San Francisco 49ers and Percy Harvin being traded to the Seattle Seahwaks, football fans are left wondering where Darrelle Revis might wind up.
Revis may be considered by many the best cover corner in the entire NFL. At only 27, the former Pitt Panthers star has had an up and down career. Though his play has never been criticized, Revis has had constant contractual issues with the Jets leading to multiple holdouts. The CB only played 2 games last season due to a torn ACL. Even coming off injury, the Jets are hoping to recoup a large package in a deal for Revis.
Recent news is making it look like the Jets will take whatever they can for Revis. New York has essentially moved on and new GM John Idzik has made it clear that Revis is an available commodity.
Teams that have made their interest in Revis known range from the San Francisco 49ers to the Philadelphia Eagles. Some teams around the league have denied interest in Revis, either honestly or to weaken the market for the star corner. Either way, I doubt there is a team in the league that would balk at a realistic chance to acquire Revis based on talent alone. In my opinion, I see the 49ers giving up some of their stockpiled draft picks to acquire the type of player in Revis that could make them Super Bowl favorites.
The Jets have time to make a move, but if they hope to acquire picks in return for Revis, they should do so soon so that they have ample time to access their draft strategy and other changes to the team that they need to make. The most recent Pro Football Talk report released news that the Jets have a 'good' offer for Revis. At this point, Jets fans should expect the team to take the best offer they can get.
Wherever he ends up, Revis will attempt to recover the career he had before injury. NFL fans should expect Revis to come back with a vengeance and make major noise this upcoming season.
