Maine-Endwell Property Purchase Plan Approved
Voters in the Maine-Endwell School District have given the authorized the acquisition of land adjacent to the high school.
The proposal to spend $165,000 was approved by a vote of 287 to 158 in a referendum on Tuesday.
The district plans to buy 1.1 acres of property on Farm-to-Market Road just north of the high school.
District officials say money from the capital reserve fund will be used to purchase the property.
The property owned approached the school district last May expressing a desire to sell the parcel.
District voters in 2009 rejected a proposal to buy the same property for $475,000. School officials then had indicated the land would have been used for construction of a parking lot.
District officials say there are no immediate plans for the property but they will discuss options with residents.
