I'm staring at the picture of that McRib and I'm drooling like my dog, CJ. You see, the McRib and I go WAY back. The McRib was only three years old when it became a big part of my life.

In 1983, I was a skinny 18-year-old working my very first "real" job. A job that didn't involve shoveling cow manure and throwing haybales. I was convinced that my life had finally begun when I got hired to work at McDonald's in Owego.

I was the opener and I worked the breakfast shift and sometimes they'd let me put on the headphones and take the drive through orders. I lived for that because it meant I got to test out my radio voice. I didn't work in radio, but boy did I want to, I pretended the drive-thru was my microphone and the McDonald's speaker was my radio.

The other thing I lived for was the McRib. Mystery meat deliciousness at its finest and because I worked at McDonald's in the day before all the cameras and Big Brother watching every move, you can bet I shoveled as many McRibs down my throat as I could.

I have had a long tasty relationship with the McRib and although there's a saying about all good things must come to an end, I am in denial about this one. Honestly, I feel like a piece of my heart has been ripped straight out of my chest.

McDonalds "Farewell Tour" For The McRib

McDonald's has announced that on November 20, 2022, the McRib will be going away forever. And not like George Strait or Garth Brooks who say they're going away but then keep coming back. The McRib is done. Over. So long. Goodbye piece of my soul. I mean, McDonald's is saying it's going away forever, but then again, they might just be trying to drum up sales...If that's the case then it's working.

Either way, the McRib and I have had a great nearly 40-year run. Heck, my relationship with the McRib has lasted longer than many friendships and relationships. The world is a bit darker today and yes, I LOVE my first world problems.
