Yankees GM Brian Cashman is wheeling and dealing like his job depends on it. Maybe it does and the same goes for his manager. Though both will be quickly employed if let go, it is not the same as being at the head of the New York Yankees organization. Early Thursday evening, Cashman added a power hitting first baseman, with four Gold Gloves and a World Series ring to his line-up.

According to reports by ESPN, "The New York Yankees acquired All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Right-handed pitcher Alexander Vizcaino and outfielder Kevin Alcantara, both minor leaguers, will head from New York to Chicago in the trade. The Yankees also announced they acquired cash considerations from the Cubs but didn't specify the amount. A source told ESPN's Jesse Rogers that it is $5.5 million, which is the remaining balance of Rizzo's $16.5 million salary this season."

Rizzo wasn't in the lineup against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. The three-time All-Star is batting .248 with 14 home runs and 40 RBIs in 92 games this season.

This deal comes hours after Yankees GM Brian Cashman traded for another left-handed, slick fielding, power hitter in Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers. Gallo has 25 home runs this season and has driven in 55. That is a ton of run production added to the Yankees line-up. They are also two everyday left-handed bats in a line-up that almost exclusively features right-handed hitters.

Plus don't forget that short fence in right-field in Yankee stadium. As Buster Olney from ESPN put it on The Drive with Charlie & Dan on Thursday, Joey Gallo "pop-flies will be home runs." Yankee fans should be excited. The Yankees are going for it and it should be a fun August through October!
