The Buffalo Bills have made most of the moves they will make before the start of training camp in late July, other than rookie free agent signings and releases.

The 2022 NFL schedule will drop on Thursday at 8 pm on The NFL Network, so we will see when the Bills will play their opponents; we already know they will host the Tennessee Titans at 7:15 pm in week 2 in the league's first-ever, non-week 1 double header.

The Bills had a pretty nice draft, and addressed positions fans clamored for them to address. General manager Brandon Beane picked cornerback Kaiir Elam in round one, running back James Cook in round two and wide receiver Khalil Shakir in round five. They also drafted "punt God" in round six, Matt Araiza.

While the Bills drafted Cook, who was both a running and passing weapon in Georgia's offense last season, the Bills reportedly kicked the tires on one of the most dynamic offensive weapons in the league.

According to NFL insider Adam Caplan, the Bills called the Carolina Panthers before the NFL Draft about star running back Christian McCaffrey.

The Panthers said they were not interested in trading away McCaffrey.

The Bills were linked to McCaffrey when the off-season began as well. The Panthers have reportedly said they were not interested in trading him away.

I'm not surprised the Bills would be interested in McCaffrey. Yes, his salary would've been a problem, but he would have fit the Bills offense perfectly. Both offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and new quarterbacks coach Joe Brady prefer to have running backs who are good pass catchers in this offense, especially since the Bills have been a pass-first team since 2020.

McCaffrey is the best pass-catching running back in the NFL, outside of the Los Angeles Chargers Austin Ekeler.

It would have required a good number of assets to trade for him, so perhaps some Bills fans are happy this never materialized.
