The Baseball World Honors Fallen New York Little Leaguer
As we reported last week, 4th grader Lazar LaPenna, of Long Beach, New York, suffered a fatal seizure after hitting a baseball and running to first base. There was no injury caused by a baseball. Lazar suffered from epilepsy for several years and was on medication for seizures. LaPenna loved baseball and the Mets. His dad was his coach. The baseball world and others took notice of this awful tragedy and even took to Twitter to recruit everyone to pay tribute to the little boy from Long Island.

NFL free agency began on Monday. New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas had 48.5 million reasons to be excited. That's how much salary cap space that the former New York Titans franchise has this year. Only the Indianapolis Colts have more money to spend. Gang Green head coach Robert Saleh is hoping that spending some cash can buy at least a half dozen more wins in 2022. It was a good start on day one.

As a parent, it is amazingly cool when your child does something that you are really proud of. It is not unusual for parents to become overwhelmed with emotional pride. So, when Mike White was named the New York Jets starting quarterback this week to replace their injured "franchise" Zach Wilson, White's parents were incredibly proud. When the 2018 5th round pick out of Western Kentucky led the Jets to an improbable victory over the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday and the Met Life crowd erupted in chanting "Mike White, Mike White, Mike White..," well that was a new level of emotion for the QB's parents.

The New York Jets have found their man. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Shefter is reporting that the Jets have reached a five year agreement with former San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator Robert Saleh. Saleh was on just about every team with a head coaching vacancies short list and one of two coaches the Jets met with in person.
